Although both minimalist, the cockpits of the two cars reveal the generation gap. The old SLR epitomises minimalism: a plate-sized rev counter, slim tartan seats, removable wooden steering wheel and open-gate dogleg gearbox are all you get. In the new 2009 SLR, carbonfibre lines the door accents, leather is replaced by cloth and the manual box is replaced by an automatic one. The instruments are small and barely legible and there is climate control rather than raw ventilation flaps.

There’s no radio, no phone and no sat-nav in this maximum SLR, but we do notice shift paddles, an ESP Off button and a plump multifunction steering wheel that wouldn’t look out of place in a diesel taxi

The Milano will be built on the Fiat Group's C and D platform, or the C-Evo in internal Fiat parlance. It will come with a choice of several diesel and gasoline/petrol engines including the Fiat Group's 1.4 liter TJet turbocharged engine in both a 120 and 158 hp configuration. Also on hand to top-off the engine range will likely be a 1.75 liter turbocharged 4-banger with somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 hp. The model is expected to be launched in Europe either late this year or in early 2010.

BMW M1 New Green Sport Concept

The 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show that's coming up in September appears to be gaining some significant momentum in as far as product is concerned. Major automakers will make big announcements there and BMW is set to be one of them. A new sports car concept will be unveiled by Bavaria at the show and it is said to offer a future solution for current C02 challenges posed by cars.

What exactly this car will be made from is unknown for now, that is, if it will be constructed from light alloys, some form of plastic composite or both, or whether it is a hybrid or a full-on electric drive vehicle. One system it will have is EfficientDynamics Vision which will carry sustainable concepts not only in the drivetrain but in its design as well as materials used. BMW aims to inject a good dose of human and financial muscle to ensure this car becomes the platform for future "sheer driving pleasure" combined with environmental friendliness.

Several reports have claimed this car's existence before with some saying it will use a modified version of the company's 3.0-litre petrol turbo engine and others suggesting other power sources.

Mazda announced the European version of the facelifted Mazda RX-8. The 2010 model year Mazda RX-8 include a new front bumper, new headlights, and LEDs incorporated into the rear lights. The front now brings the car more in line with the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6. Mazda is also using new side skirts, as well as new 19-inch alloy wheels.

Mazda will use the 1.3-liter rotary engine that provides 231 hp and 211 Nm for the new Mazda RX-8. The engine now has a second knock sensor, for increased efficiency. Using the six-speed manual, the new Mazda RX-8 car can reach 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. The car top speed out at 234 km/h (145 mph).

2010 Mazda RX-8 Facelift interior comes with Recaro sport seats that combine black cloth and leather. A new instrument cluster, steering wheel, and sound system are included, as well as Bluetooth functionality.

The improved supercar features an enhanced cold air induction system and an optimized exhaust, which enables the Bugatti’s 8.0-liter 16 cylinder engine to deliver 1109 hp and 1310 Nm of torque (instead of the streamer 1001 hp and 1250 Nm of torque).

The 2010 Toyota iQ uses a new, dedicated architecture and differs from the Smart in many ways despite a similar phone-booth silhouette and wheels way out at the corners. Where the German-brand mini drives its rear wheels with a small 3-cylinder engine mounted in back, the iQ has an up-front engine and front-wheel drive. The Toyota is also larger than the Smart, standing some 10 inches longer, nearly five inches wider, and 2.4 inches lower on a 4.7-inch-longer wheelbase. These larger dimensions combine with several packaging innovations to make the iQ a nominal four-passenger runabout versus the two-seat Smart. Toyota says the interior furnishes "3+1" accommodation, with room for one adult behind the front passenger and a second rear seat that can carry a small child or be folded up for cargo.

According to the Toyota people we talked to, the iQ will be offered in Europe with two gasoline engines, a three-cylinder 1.0-liter and a 4-cylinder 1.3-liter unit as well as with a 4-cylinder 1.4-liter turbo diesel. The new 2010 Porsche Panamera is the first 4-door luxury sedan offered by Porsche. The Panamera is a front engined and rear wheel drive sports car sedan. The Porsche Panamera will have three models using three different engine choices, the Panamera S using a 4.8-liter V-8 with 400 horsepower, the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4S using a 4.8-liter V-8 with 405 horsepower and the all-wheel-drive Panamera Turbo features a turbocharged 4.8-liter V-8 with 500 horsepower.

Pricing for the 2010 Porsche Panamera will be $89,800 for the Panamera S, $93,800 for the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4S and $132,600 for the Panamera Turbo.

2011 Chevrolet Volt Prices: GM first projected the Volt’s base price at around $30,000, but has since upped the estimate to $35,000. And some sources believe the final tab will be more like $40,000, rather steep for a compact Chevrolet. Why so much? Apparently because GM underestimated the cost of the high-tech batteries and other Volt-specific components. The wild card is whether the company might be willing to take a loss by subsidizing the price down to the original $30K target--and if so, for how long.

The RCZ is unique in a number of ways. It is the first Peugeot not to use the zero or double zero numbering system in its name. Another special trait the car has over its brethren is that the production version will be unveiled to the public only two years after the concept car, called the 308 RCZ, was first shown. It has been confirmed that this will happen at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

Peugeot emphasises the importance of the 2+2 Coupé by stating that it will be sold as an exclusive model that will give discerning enthusiasts great driving enjoyment. Much of the concept's exterior look has been kept intact to stay within the high styling expectations it created.

Speculation is that the RCZ will share the upper crust of engines with the 308 range and also come with a new 250hp (184kW) motor. These engines will include torquey and efficient turbo diesels.

According to these recent renderings, the A5 Sportback will feature a five-door configuration but will be much sleeker than traditional Audi Avant wagons. The design appears almost like a four-door coupe but the roomy cabin, tall profile, and sloping hatchback style rear-door ensures the Sportback sits in its own niche.

The base model will remain FWD but AWD variants will feature the latest quattro torque vectoring systems, which distribute drive individually between each axle and between the rear wheels for improved traction and stability. Power will come from the same engines used in the regular A5 lineup, with a 4.2L FSI V8 expected to appear in a range-topping RS5 model.
